Akoya Necklaces

Only a few years ago the only Akoya pearls in the market were bleached white, round and shiny. Then a few strands of pearls left in their natural colours - white, and subtle pastel shades plus gold and blue appeared at the end of the counter on a couple of stands at the Hong Kong gem show. They disappeared in seconds and the word went around. Now there are still thousands and thousands of classic white round pearls out there, but natural whites, subtle pastels, deep blues and golds are to be found.
